JBL GTO 939 speakers handle a robust 300 watts peak power (100 watts RMS). This much power makes for an ideal match to systems powered with head-unit or factory-amplifier power levels, or even with many of the GTO Series amplifier combinations to help keep up with systems that feature one or more subwoofers. And its great power-handling specifications also increase reliability over the lifetime of the speaker.
Product Features:
  • 25 – 300 watts suggested amplifier power range
JBL engineers designed the GTO 939 speaker to produce strong, clear sound from a head-unit or amplifier capable of delivering up to 300 watts of power. This makes the GTO 939 an ideal match to systems powered with head-unit or factory-amplifier power levels, or even with many of the GTO Series amplifier combinations to help keep up with systems that feature one or more subwoofers. And its great power-handling specifications also increase reliability over the lifetime of the speaker.
  • Patented Plus One woofer-cone technology
The GTO 939’s Plus One carbon-injected cones provide more overall speaker cone area than others in the class. With an effective increase in cone area, the speaker radiates more air. Also, the carbon-injected cone material produces a lighter and stiffer cone. The result is a better low-frequency response and a greater ability to make those important musical notes that people often associate with larger speaker sizes.
  • Carbon-Composite Non Magnetic Frame
The Carbon-Composite non magnetic frame used in the GTO 939’s speakers resist warping even when you mount them on uneven surfaces. Their nonmagnetic carbon composite helps to control the magnet’s energy and deliver it to the voice instead of wasting it as heat. What’s more, the plastic doesn’t resonate. The result of this control is accurate sound in your car.
  • True 4 Ohm Technology
Low-Impedance, three ohm voice coils compensate for the undergauged speaker wiring found in many of today's cars, and make the most of every watt your amplifier or head unit can deliver.
  • Vented magnet assemblies
GTO 939 speakers feature vented magnet assemblies to help cool the voice coil. Keeping the voice coil cool adds to increased reliability from greater power handling and helps eliminate power compression that can distort the speakers’ sound.
  • Frequency response to 21kHz
A wide frequency response that extends beyond 20kHz helps to compensate for speaker-placement variations in your car and for human hearing deficiencies in the high-frequency spectrum above 15kHz. The result is that GTO 939 speakers deliver more of the full-range frequency response that you associate with great sound.
  • High sensitivity (94dB@2.83V/1m)
High sensitivity allows a wider range of power to provide great sound without overdriving the audio system. With a sensitivity of 94 decibels at 2.83 volts/1 meter, the GTO 939 speakers achieve excellent volume and musicality with as little as 5 watts RMS. That means better performance overall, even with very moderate power driving them. And better performance makes the GTO 939 speakers an ideal replacement for factory speakers as well as for any aftermarket speaker installation.
  • Adjustable tweeter level
Easily adjust the tweeter output from 0 to +3 decibels to compensate for low and off-axis mounting positions or road noise.
  • Edge-driven, soft-dome tweeter diaphragms
The edge-driven, soft-dome tweeter design in the GTO 939 increases power handling while reducing high-frequency distortion. Edge-driven tweeters also have better dispersion characteristics and allow a lower crossover frequency, which improves imaging. The result is better vocals and clarity in your music. There’s no sense having it loud if it doesn’t sound clean, too.
  • Industry-leading product development and evaluation standards
JBL technicians specifically evaluate each GTO Series speaker model in the development stages for overall and vocal-range voicing, intermodulation distortion (IMD) and performance at the limits of electrical and mechanical design. We also test according to strict carmaker reliability standards, both in development and in final production. All of these details are virtually unique to JBL car speakers, as most competitors do not even come close to this level of detail and oversight.
Plus One® Technology

Plus One carbon-injected cones provide more overall speaker-cone area than other cones in its class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 6x9 crispy sound I buy these edition to my 4 jbl gto 609c I didn't install them in the car yet but I hook it up to my receiver. Which is Harman kardon avr 1710s used it on stereo mode. After breaking it in after 4 hours of playing I start pushing power on the speakers. Very nice bass. I play with the bass control to see what is the respond on the speakers. They hit nice bass. Very nice vocals also When you push the -db button by the tweeters makes a huge difference on the tweeter. You get very ear iching tremble which i like. Nice quality all around. I am gonna push mostly mid bass on these I have the s3 1224 for the deep bass. You can never have to much speaker

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Speakers for the price. I installed these speakers into my 2009 Sierra in boxes under the rear seats with the tweeters facing up. I purchased the basic 6 x 9 boxes and they fit near perfect under the seat securely. I have a 40 watt 10 year old Sony amplifier turned all the way up and these speakers scream. Due to the size of the little 12 x 12 boxes, the bass is nothing to really brag about but the mids and highs are as good as it gets. I plan on following up the 6 x 9's with a pair of JBL 12's to get the bass I need to compensate for them. I can tell you that the sound is amazing, No popping or tweeter squeeling. These speakers will not disappoint. I could easily add my kicker 300 amp to them but they are plenty loud enough with the 40 watts behind them. I must also mention that I am still using my stock stereo. With an aftermarket unit and added EQ, these speakers could be fined tuned to perfection. Spend the extra money and get them. ROCK ON JBL. ROCK ON.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny!!! Great sound for a 6X9 3way I bought them to replace stock 6X9 rear speakers in a 2011 Nissan Altima. They sound great and rattle the license plate frame!!! Now I don't have to turn the volume up all the way to enjoy my music. I listen to dance, rap,r&b, and latin music. All sounds good wit these speakers!!!!

I recently purchased the GTO939's and the GTO609C's for a total of 4 speakers. My current radio has a 200 watt peak or 50 watts*4. I need to purchase an amplifier and I need a recommendation for which JBL amp is best for my situation. Thanks.

Asked by: Cole H
The best that we can recommend would be our JBL GTR-104 and JBL GTR-7535, where the latter would be best if you plan to add a subwoofer to your system at a later date.

This is for clarification.. can i use the gto 939 speakers with a 2-4 ohm stable amp? Would there modifications as regards wiring the speakers to the amp?

Asked by: Myie111
Hi! Yes, you can use an amplifier that is rated 2 or 4 ohms with the GTO 939. You do not need to do any modifications with the wiring and the setup. You just need to wire them the same way on how you usually wire car speakers to their amplifier.

Is there a trick to putting the guards (covers) on the gto939's. Mine don't seem to want to sink into the speaker. The opening for the center speaker won't even sit flush with the speaker. It's as If the guard is to small. Any hints or ideas. Thanks

I recently installed pioneer 4200NEX in a 2000 Toyota Camry XLE which has JBL premium sound installed in it. The guy mentioned that both my rear speakers are blown and need to be replaced. Can I use these speakers to replace the stock JBL speakers?

Asked by: RajaTH
Being that the GTO939 speakers can handle up to 300 watts, they can certainly handle the 20 or so watts of power that your stock system currently puts out. So, if you are simply looking to improve the sonic quality of your existing system, putting these speakers in should do the trick. On the other hand, if you are trying to get more volume out of your system, you will definitely need these speakers and an amplifier, in order to increase your volume. OR, if you are putting these speakers in because you have blown your stock speakers, this is likely because your stock amp is not powerful enough for your listening taste. In this case you would have likely turned your stock system up too loud, causing distortion, and as a result, blew the speakers due to distortion. So in this case we would also recommend an amplifier as well.

Hello, I have a 2007 Toyota Camry hybrid w/factory JBL upgrade. I need to replace the rear deck and door speakers but I hear that the factory JBL speakers are 2 ohm. The tweeter and woofers of these 6x9 speakers are also split (4 wires to each speaker)

Asked by: floridalance
Since this is an inquiry with the factory installed JBL system, all support for these products are handled exclusively through Toyota. Unfortunately we are unable to assist.
